We recently had the pleasure of catching up with one of our lovely brides, who shared her heartwarming love story, insights on wedding planning, and reflections on her bridal journey. We hope her experiences inspire and resonate with other brides-to-be as they navigate their own unique paths. Here’s her story:
How did you and your partner meet?
Oliver and I met when we were teenagers. Two friendship groups and two different schools that started hanging out in the same places. After a short while, we became boyfriend and girlfriend. We were very young and the relationship didn’t last too long, but we remained friends for many years, and then life got in the way and we went on our separate journeys. We both went to different universities and travelled on very different gap years. Almost 12 years later we matched each other on a dating app, and it’s like we never lost touch. The rest is history!
2. How did you find the wedding planning process and do you have any tips for future brides?
I really enjoyed the wedding planning process. One thing I would say is just enjoy every single moment of it, because when it’s over you’ll wish you were creating table plans, or speaking to florists, or thinking about what shoes you’re going to wear on your big day.
And don’t sweat the small stuff! Pick your battles and focus on the things that really do mean the most to you. Everything else will fall into place.
3. How was your bridal journey? Thoughts on your dress choice and bridal store selection?
I had found the perfect dress for me, with the guidance and incredible knowledge from Kathryn who I cannot thank enough.
My bridal journey was very unexpected. When it comes to decision making, I’m a perfectionist and tend to take a long time in coming to a final decision. I had booked two bridal shops to visit; one bridal shop I had found on Instagram and that was in fact BRIDHA, and the other shop my mum had recommended. BRIDHA was booked for the Saturday, and the other shop for the Sunday.
I was greeted with smiles at BRIDHA and sat down with the wonderful Kathryn to run through what it was I was looking for. ‘Describe how you want to feel’ was the question, to which I answered ‘elegant, classy, timeless and I want the dress to fit me, not for me to fit the dress’. We were up from our seats and Kathryn pulled three dresses for me to try, each one beautiful but not 100% there just yet. Then it was onto the fourth, and with slight hesitation (that’s the perfectionist in me) I said yes to the dress. My mum was in tears, so surely this had to be the right one?
It was a beautiful Pronovias dress, and I made it my own by taking the bow off another and pinning it to the back of this. It created the perfect elegance that I was after, and added slight drama and that ‘wow’ factor that I wanted.
We cancelled the second dress shop and that was it. I had found the perfect dress for me, with the guidance and incredible knowledge from Kathryn who I cannot thank enough.
4. How was the wedding day? Did everything go according to plan?
The wedding day was a dream. We always wanted to get married outside, and I was checking the weather app incessantly in the week running up to our big day. It was meant to rain; however, the sun was beaming down and the blue skies were out just in time for us to say ‘I do’.
5. Any advice for brides and extra info?
Take it all in. Every single second and every single minute. On your special day try and stay as close to your other half as possible so that you can really experience everything together. Take a moment and step back to appreciate all of your hard work coming together, and just live and be in the moment. It’s the most incredible experience and it’ll go exactly how it’s meant to.
